Freie Universitaet Berlin International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS) is an intensive, academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted toward their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for 3 to 6 weeks and take place both in summer and winter.
The FUBiS program 2019 takes place in three terms of which each term can be taken separately:
FUBiS term I: January 5 - January 25, 2019 (3 weeks)
FUBiS term II: May 25 - July 6, 2019 (6 weeks)
FUBiS term III: July 13 - August 10, 2019 (4 weeks)
FUBiS offers intensive and semi-intensive German language classes on up to five different levels of proficiency. Semi-intensive German language classes meet three to four days a week whereas intensive German language classes meet every weekday.
FUBiS also offers subject classes, which meet two to four days a week. These classes are held mostly in English by distinguished German or international faculty. Depending on term availability, students have the possibility to combine two subject courses or a subject course with a semi-intensive German language course.
Study and field trips to museums, memorials as well as political and cultural institutions are integral parts of all courses. In addition, FUBiS offers a variety of extracurricular activities like a guided tour along the former Berlin Wall, a visit of the Reichstag Building and the Federal Parliament, a River Boat Tour through downtown Berlin (in summer only) as well as weekend trips to e.g. Leipzig, Potsdam, Dresden, and Lübeck.
